Longtime readers of the site might know that I am a fan of my friend Snorb's cruel and absurdist La Vie Moderne series of ZZT worlds. I'm such a fan, that I've made multiple pieces of fanart of characters from the series! (Something few others can claim!)

Today I am proud to present portraits of two more characters from the series!

  • Keygan Crisp - In this day and age, Keygan is ZZT's most notorious motormouth. You may foolishly go to his key-shop with the expectation of exchanging currency for a key, but you'll find yourself leaving with thousands of words of opinions about some science-fiction or fantasy property that you had no idea still had passionate fans. Designed for the explicit purpose of wasting the time of streamers who feel obligated to read every word out loud (these are trollgames, after all), he is ZZT's most notorious purple smiley face since Barney.

  • Narrator P - He's the narrator. He's a plushie. He's made in the express image of Snorb -- not the IRL Snorb, mind you, but the in-game character of Snorb E. Snorb, the foul-mouthed elf and Mayor of the City of ZZT.

Check out both portraits on the Art subpage of the Works section.

Any similarity to Chrono Trigger characters is entirely coincidental.

Just the other day I made something for the Summer '25 2.4 Hours of ZZT, which is now enshrined on the ZZT page.

The theme this time around was "Tick... Tick... Boom!" which inspired me to go back to the ancient '90s wellspring of anti-Barney hate and repurpose it for modern ends. The title is Minion Slaughtermap, and I made as a hypothetical game from 2011 (ZZT's most fallow year). In essence, it's a throwback to 14 years ago that's a throwback to 14 more years prior to that.

Anyhoo, you should play it. The response to it has been universally positive, somehow.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't link to the general entries page so you can see what everybody else has been up to.

As always, happy ZZTing!

The pace at which I receive questions has, for the most part, fallen considerably since the Fall of Cohost (RIP). Nevertheless, after scrounging around on forums and DMs and such for months, I finally have enough for another mailbag, which you can read here.

(For the record's sake, I don't have any actual quota for these things (besides "vibes"), so it's more a matter of motivation to set the page up than anything else. I mean, I probably had enough questions back on my birthday, and those of you who know my IRL birthday know it's been a while since that happened.)

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy yet another Q&A with me. (Please ask me more questions.)

It's been a hot minute, but I have another map for you! This one is for a hack called "Metroid Confrontation 2 - Return to SR-388." The name is a bit of a mouthful, but in essence it's a demake of Metroid 2 in the Metroid 1 engine (or, more specifically, a demake of AM2R). It takes some creative liberties in order to get the game to fit in the engine (and the soundtrack is wild), but overall it's pretty admirable effort at a total conversion.

As always, you can find the map on the maps page. Please it enjoy it and the hack!

The Spring '25 2.4 Hours of ZZT just happened, so I have yet another addition to the ZZT page!

The theme this time around was "Friend or Foe," where we could either make a game about an unstoppable foe, or a useful friend to rescue. I chose the "foe" option, and my resulting game is called Let Not Thee the Earth Consume. It's a little time-attack full of various micro-challenges with a very voraciously themed time limit.

While I don't think the concept is as original as my previous game, I am still very proud of how it turned out. Content-wise, I didn't feel the need to change anything after the fact --- I just fixed a minor visual bug, a typo or two, and added in a scoring system. The scoring system was a very good addition, since it seems to have compelled multiple people to play through it multiple times.

Anyhow, you can watch the VoD of the dev stream here, and a VoD of my "judging" stream here, both on my VoD storage channel (rember to like and subscirb smile).

What's one way to start off the quarter? Two more comics!!

  1. A silly edit of a meme
  2. Something based off an IRL conversation with a child

Enjoy!
